Daniel 1:1-2

In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it. 2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand,

Daniel 1:20

20 And in every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters that were in all his kingdom.

Daniel 2:11

11 The thing that the king asks is difficult, and no one can show it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”

Daniel 2:27-28

27 Daniel answered the king and said, “No wise men, enchanters, magicians, or astrologers can show to the king the mystery that the king has asked, 28 but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days.

Daniel 2:45b

A great God has made known to the king what shall be after this. The dream is certain, and its interpretation sure.”

Daniel 2:46-49

46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and paid homage to Daniel, and commanded that an offering and incense be offered up to him. 47 The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.” 48 Then the king gave Daniel high honors and many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon. 49 Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king's court.

Daniel 2:46

Daniel 2:47

47 The king answered and said to Daniel, “Truly, your God is God of gods and Lord of kings, and a revealer of mysteries, for you have been able to reveal this mystery.”

Acts 10:25-26

25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped him.26 But Peter lifted him up, saying, “Stand up; I too am a man.”

Revelation 22:8-9

I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I heard and saw them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed them to me, but he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”

Daniel 2:48

48 Then the king gave Daniel high honors and many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.

  • Daniel Didn’t Chase Success- He Chased Obedience 

  • Daniel Didn’t Pursue Position – He Pursued Prayer

  • And God Honored That Heart

Daniel 2:49

49 Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego over the affairs of the province of Babylon. But Daniel remained at the king's court.

Hebrews 1:3-4

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

Philippians 2:9-10

Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

Prayer Guide

Adoration - Bring to mind the ways God reveals His glory and greatness. 

 

Lord, You are the only true God, to whom belong wisdom and might. Your greatness is unsearchable. (Pause and reflect on God’s greatness.)

And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

John 17:3

20 Daniel answered and said:

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
    to whom belong wisdom and might.

Daniel 2:20

Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
    and his greatness is unsearchable.

Psalm 145:3

Confession - Confess to God the tendency to exalt people above Him, and acknowledge any pursuit of worldly success or status. 

 

Lord, I confess I have sought the approval of man. I have acted out of selfish ambition and conceit. (Confess to God any specific ways you’ve sinned against Him.)

10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant[a] of Christ.

Galatians 1:10

Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Philippians 2:3

Thanksgiving - Thank God for the countless mercies He has shown in your life.

 

Lord, thank You for Your goodness. Your steadfast love never ceases, and Your mercies never come to an end. (Thank God for specific ways He has demonstrated His mercies to you.)

Psalm 86:5

Supplication - Ask God to give you a humble heart and guide you to live as a servant, honoring Him above all. 

 

Lord, grant me humility to value others above myself. Enable me with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness and patience. (Pause to pray for Christlike humility and a servant’s heart.)
